Last Saturday evening, our Club House was transformed into a Christmas grotto, Evans Bay–style. Thanks to the generous contributions of Marion Davey and the creative efforts of Jackie Thrussell, Jane, and Remy Thomassen, the scene was set for a night of festive cheer and good company. There was no shortage of Christmas spirit, with our younger sailors and guests being entertained with games and activities organised by Vanessa Keys. The obvious highlight, of course, was the very special and magical appearance of Santa.
The Christmas meal, organised by our Waka Ama friends, was delicious, and it was a great turnout and fantastic to see so many familiar faces, along with a few new ones, filling the Club House. A wonderful reminder of what makes the Evans Bay community so good — the people, the company, and a shared love of the water.
A big thank you to the House Committee (particularly Frances Velin and Jane Thomassen) for their valuable service and contributions over recent years. As we head into the New Year, we’ll be looking for new members to join the team. If you’d like to help shape future events and be part of the fun and traditions of the Club, please get in touch – we’d love to have you on board.
Here’s to a great festive season and an even better year ahead!
