Wakarere holds a significant place in the history of the Wellington area. Commissioned by The Elliot's in 1939 and built by Jack Morgan in Picton, she carries a rich legacy. Correspondence between Sir Randle Elliot and Jack Morgan during the construction process adds to her historical value. Wakarere was the first yacht in the Wellington area to feature winches and a toilet. The introduction of these amenities was such a milestone that a "Toilet party" was held to celebrate. Sailing out of the RPNYC, she raced in all the inshore offshore races even participating in the ill-fated Wellington to Littleton race in 1951. Despite encountering difficulties, she persevered and made a memorable journey. Her resilience during this race caught the attention of documentary filmmakers, leading to her appearance in "Descent from Disaster," with Peter Montgomery filming her on the water.
She boasts a carvel plank design, crafted from Kauri with copper bolts, rivets, roves, black beech ribs, and Jara for floors, mast beams, and deadwood. She was built to stand the test of time.

This Noelex 22 is a great boat for anyone looking for a fun and affordable way to enjoy the water. She's easy to sail and maneuver, and she's perfect for day trips or weekend getaways.
The boat comes with a variety of sails, including a main sail, spinnaker, and two genoas. She also has anchor, navigation and cabin lights, as well as a 12V socket. The boat is currently on a trailer. The trailer does not have a WOF but in good condition. It was built in 2008.
The boat does need some TLC, especially the door. There are also two tillers, and a full cover for the boat and boom.
If you're looking for a fun and affordable sailing boat, this Noelex 22 is a great option. Contact me today for more information or to schedule a viewing: the boat is located at Evans Bay marina)

The motor has not been serviced in years. While it might start and run, I would assume the boat does not have a motor. If need be, we might have a 8HP outboard, fully operational, that we could sell separately.
