During the COVID-19 pandemic when New Zealand went into lock-down we posted a youtube video each down to lift the spirits. Here are the videos that were posted.
Day 1 was a great documentary about the 2018 Middle Sea Race for you to watch.
Day 2 was a segment about the 2019 Rolex Fastnet Race, if you keep a close eye on things you might even spot a past EBYMBC member involved (or though he is a bit bigger now than when he was running around EBYMBC).
Day 3 was a three part homemade documentary called Snow Petrel Down Under, about the unique journey of brothers Matt and Ben and their father John as they set sail from Tasmania, Australia in Ben's 34ft Yacht Snow Petrel. Their destination is Commonwealth Bay, Antarctica, the windiest place on Earth. Watch part one here.
Day 4 was a very wet Sunday afternoon and so we shared a slightly longer video about the 2017-18 Volvo Ocean Race.
Day five's film was a new release, it only came out to the public at 1900hrs on day 4. So head on over and check it out the 2020 SSANZ Evolution Sails Round North Island Race video.
Day 6 we went back to Ocean Racing with a video about the 1977-78 Whitbread Round the World Race. Some pretty cool footage here.
Day 7 is a video about the conversion of a lifeboat into a cruising boat. It's amazing what a bit of imagination can create. The full story is here.
Day 8 went back to the tried and true. The April 2020 edition of the World Sailing Show is out with all the latest news (I hope there won't be too much about COVID-19... but I can't promise).
Day 9 was a Friday evening (not that it makes much difference?!), so here is a story about the HUGO BOSS campaigns. Enjoy 😃
Day 10, and to celebrate getting to double digits we are doing a double feature... Thanks to Geoff Head who has provided the footage that was shown on the Friday Evening of the Labour Weekend Centenary Celebrations.
Day 11's video is actually part 1 of 6 (they are only 10 mins each) about kayaking across Bass Strait. Sit back and enjoy it in six bite size pieces.
Today's video is about the 1926 Nathanael Herreshoff-designed NY40 MARILEE which underwent a complete restoration.
Day 13 and we headed across the ditch to check in on the 2018 Sydney Hobart Race.
Day 14 is a timelapse video of the construction of a cruise liner, it's just like playing with Lego.
Day 15 and we get to see some amazing drone footage of offshore sailing.
Day 16 and the video is about a world record attempt at sailing around the Isle of Wight.
Day 17 and we are looking back at the 2017 J Class regatta that happened in Bermuda in conjunction with the 35th America's cup.
Day 18 and we are onto the 1981-82 Whitbread Round the World Race. It's a good afternoon to sit on the couch and catch up on some sailing history.
Day 19. It's Easter Monday, so a great afternoon to sit back and reminisce about the 1995 Black Magic campaign.
Day 20 and after looking at the 1995 campaign yesterday it's time to look at the 2017 America's Cup campaign
Day 21 looks at a DIY boat restoration project that takes longer than expected...
Day 22 is a short documentary about a 25 year restoration of a small power boat aptly named "Finally"
Day 23's video is of the 2018Les Voiles de Saint-Tropez which attracted 4,000 international sailors for a week of sailing along the Côte d’Azur.
Day 24's video looks at the IMOCA 60 and how the addition of foils has changed this class of boat
Day 25 and the video is all about getting across the North Atlantic as quickly as possible.
Day 26 is another video from the IMOCA 60 Class. These things are insane!
Day 27 and we look back at the epic 1989-90 Whitbread Round the World Race with Big Red.
Day 28 and we are moving away from Youtube, this film is a fantastic look back at Geoff Stagg's Whispers II. Please note it is probably R13 so if you have little eyes wanting to watch to might be worth watching it by yourself first...
Day 29 was a little different... How to tie a Monkey's fist. It might be something to fill in the spare time over the upcoming long weekend?
Day 30 is a video about kayaking around Ireland. The video was the winner of Best Sea Kayaking Film - Reel Paddling Film Festival 2017.
Day 31 and we relived the final race of the 35th America's Cup.
Day 32 is a video documentary about the Sail GP series. Sit back and enjoy.
