EBYMBC has a fast-growing and very active cruising division.
Boat's range in size from 25 feet to 43 feet, and include steel, wood, GRP & concrete hulls.
Races are either 2 race round-the buoys competitions, or longer harbour races, with the
occasional Mark Foy start thrown in to spice things up. While the division is by name & nature 'cruising',
and the use of spinnakers is forbidden, there is an enjoyable spirit of competition amongst the fleet, with
everyone hoping to see their name on one of the many trophies at the end of the season.
Many of the cruising division crews are to be found at the club galley for
Friday evening meals, debating their respective handicaps, or at the club slipway, discussing
the merits of different antifoul processes or helping to resolve each other's engine problems.
Come Christmas time there is a general exodus of boats to the Marlborough Sounds, where several
boats have moorings, and all have a great love of this fantastic cruising ground.
